days were still, a storm brewed over this hill, with no hand to hold and a light to guide, found a shelter only to hide, your custodian presence so rare, yet I never ceased to care, some passed, some remained, you were always on my mind as I walked this independent route, Independent route, to the older and newer places Independent route, I'll never forget those faces back and forth this home, that home like a pendulum I've moved to and fro, tears and smiles like sides of a coin tossed and caught by hands but mine this whistling wind, it whispered my name door had opened like an invitation I didn't but it did find me, so I walked this independent route Independent route, to the older and newer places Independent route, I'll never forget those faces oh I could count them all, with them came music and only stark silence once they left

Surfer 03:28
first day we met I sensed a mild tremor, a smile with a hint of shyness, your fragrance so fine, Your face, your body, now in my minds museum girl you are so fine, felt the tremor all night a wave engulfed me entirely Oh, I missed the smell of this sea the salt, the breeze, the rare lightning, like a rising wave slamming ashore, but I've survived, I'm a surfer another alley, another time, but the same fragrance, I felt the tremor in me even harder, you were right behind, our game of looking online came to an end oh, so early drowned ourselves in river beer, time to take you home a wave engulfed me entirely Oh, I missed the smell of this sea the salt, the breeze, the rare lightning, like a rising wave slamming ashore, but I've survived, I'm a surfer

There's a beat in the air, the trees, they are dancing, shedding leaves, they seem to feel no pain, they know this rhythm, saw it coming, and it's coming again, for you and me, we've been waiting waiting to break the ice, make it spill maybe take a dip inside and gauge if it's true, if it's true, we can take it through, as we keep on waiting, the sun is fading Fading..... and If it's true, we can take it through, so let's jump into the pool I held them firmly, but the hands were slippery, they came, they left, the fire never sufficed, the sun had been gazing slyly through curtains so cloudy a smiling face turned into one that mocked me, then you came, but the room wasn't open, you said it wasn't easy yet you got in casually then the sun came up out of its routine bath from the sea, Shining but will soon fading Fading..... and If it's true, we can take it through, let's jump into the pool

Wrung out the left overs, cold and stale, he stood there like a stubborn nail, knocked clear and loud, saw a reflection in his eye, twas deep and dark, a reminder of the days gone by, there came a spark, there came a spark One became two, twas even and true, she found the key to unlock a stream of poetry, a broken shield, every word, every action into this closed field, comforted like a cushion, pricked like a needle, when it pricked, songs and words bled, us, like rum and coke, it's going down to keep me warm on this wintry night there came a spark, there came a spark One became two, twas even and true, she found the key to unlock a stream of poetry how come you landed on my arms, While I hung on a cloud of doubt, like I've found my other better half, how come this all came about One became two, twas even and true, she found the key to unlock a stream of poetry

Tonight, I feel so weak Like a branch about to break in two never been so hard to get through in the morning we were strong, with noon the wind came along, the evening, it was serene there was storm on tonight's screen tonight, there's a stillness outside It's contagious, it's growing in me I'm like a lost ship in a sea in the morning we were strong, with noon the wind came along, the evening, it was serene there was storm on tonight's screen

Melodrama 04:29
a rope with a stone tied on the other end, its thrown into an ocean, the smell of salt, the heavy air, it's all fading, my ship is sinking buoyancy acting very minimally, a stone that once had shone, now it's burnt a layer so thick and black, it's only much heavier I'm losing my grip over you the stage we created, our roles had complemented, now, I'm the only lasting character, but I'm waiting for your return to resume this fine melodrama wipe off the board lets make it shine, start afresh, but the scratch is too fine words, pictures, sketches, erased but only from the board, stone and the surface, they struck and kissed so hard there was fire, but it didn't last the storm was growing fast so I came inside this home we once made, there were cracks on the wall picked up the broken pieces tried to put it back the stage we created, our roles had complemented, now, I'm the only lasting character, but I'm waiting for your return to resume this fine melodrama a rope with a stone tied on the other end, its thrown into an ocean...

Receding 04:23
times when the wind blew, smell that lingered on, started to fade as the wind slowed, times when I said 1,2,3 you said 3,2,1 wrongs that had piled up the colossal bottom of an iceberg it pulls you down, yet it keeps you afloat times when the clouds grew darker after a long and sunny spell, it relieved me, yet I'd wished to see the light that healed me, I was looking for an answer in a pond, imperfect reflection, imperfect self ripples distorting ever so freely, never so still and it changes consistently, wind returned, faster and heavier I begged for another chance, survived and mended my way, not that route again, voice echoed in my mind "who am I? Can I not take that route and fight it out on my own ?" alchemist in me was awoken, urge to remake the sword keep me ready, battle it out like nobody it was me versus me, Only I've been the obstacle, now it's you and me versus me I'm only much more ready with you by my side, we'll reverse this mighty tide

about

This album talks of my journey, about the ups and downs and how I dealt with it. I have had a relatively lonely upbringing as I was sent to Delhi back in 1997 when I was only just a kid. My family was away for most part of the year. As a kid, you look for somebody who can be your guiding hand. It was during those times that music came to me as solace. It comforted me and became my best friend. The first song in this album ‘Independent Route’ talks more specifically about this phase of my life, and how music also eventually made me meet some of my very good friends.

Like everyone else, I have had my quarter life crisis, my own relationship and career issues. I have had times when nothing was going right. These strong emotions can be felt in my songs.

I have met someone very special now who has been a strong supporting pillar, an inspiration, a cushion I could count on when I fall. The album closes with "Receding" which concludes this chapter, this phase. I feel I've overcome some of my doubts and I'm hopeful that together we will reverse the mighty tide ahead of us.

Takar Nabam India

Takar Nabam is an Indian singer songwriter who infuses mellow alt rock references hints of Himalayan folk music influences from North East India to create a soulful concoction of liberating grooves, jazzy riffs and dreamy vocals. From India’s Arunachal Pradesh region bordering Tibet, Takar’s music embodies the truth that it’s the journey that matters, and not where it should eventually lead to. ... more
